Their powers inspired suspicion rather than admiration, causing many to judge them before ever getting to know them. Despite the prejudice they faced, their mother, Inko Midoriya, never wavered in her support. She raised them to believe that a person's heart not their power determined whether they became a hero or a villain, constantly encouraging them to use their abilities to protect others instead of giving in to society's expectations. Inspired by their mother's unwavering faith, Izuku and Himiko made a promise to one another from a young age they would rise above the world's prejudice and become the Number One and Number Two Heroes together, proving that even the most frightening powers could become symbols of hope in the right hands.
