When the world sleeps, some people wake up. Mara has insomnia-long, endless nights filled with walking streets and counting hours that refuse to move forward. Leo has bipolar disorder-days that burn too bright and others that dim without warning. They meet by accident at a bus stop at 2 a.m., both awake for different reasons, and slowly form a connection built on honesty, boundaries, and understanding. This is not a story about fixing each other. His days are a blur of caffeine refills and possibly hundreds of sketches, complicated by working at a cafe where crazy customers who all seem to have woken up on the wrong side of their beds, and roommates who are also his best friends, seem to treat common sense as optional. Just when life couldn't get any louder, an ex who refuses to stay in the past keeps reappearing, and a beautiful girl with a mischievous smile takes obvious pleasure in poking at his nerves-and maybe his heart. He is known across campus as the untouchable one-top music student, and "as cold as Antarctica." What nobody knows is that he barely sleeps. Insomnia keeps him company every night, leaving him wandering empty corridors at 3 a.m., fingers aching for strings he's already played for hours. Music is the only thing that quiets his restless mind. While others admired him for his looks or reputation, Selene watched the way his shoulders relaxed when he played. The way his expression softened for half a second during a difficult passage. The way his music sounded less like performance and more like confession. She told herself she only wanted to be friends. That she was just curious. That she simply appreciated talent. But the truth was softer. And maybe love, like music, sounds best when two completely different melodies learn how to play in harmony.
