Dean was just raised from perdition (Hell), he didnt know why he was saved but he was. He later met Castiel, who told him the reasons why he was saved. Dean hated Castiel, because why would he, or any angel let bad things happen to good people. He never had any faith in angels or god. Dean and Castiel start being friends, and later on down the line, Dean starts to develop feelings for Castiel but pushes them down because his father always taught him a man should not be with a man and a woman should not be with a woman
