Sickness was growing at an alarming rate. Daily function was getting too difficult. Small changes at first: his hoodie looked baggier, his eyeshadow seemed darker, skin paler. He'd spend less time outside his room. Then things got worse: constant sickness, endless nausea, vertigo, emaciation. Virgil struggled to keep balance without some sort of crutch or support. It took everything out of him to pretend he was fine. It took too much out of him. It took so much out of him that he knew he was running out of time. It was his decision whether or not to take action. His life was in his own hands. The only thing in his way was fear of himself.

First day of college. Virgil Nightshade has just moved in and met his roomate, Patton Picani. Later, in the first period, he meets Logan Crofters, and falls in love with him. Patton made a club for fathers-expecting and otherwise-to help find support and resources. After the death of his dear friend's husband, he urges him to join. Virgil wasn't sure at first but it seems as though there's a few more familiar faces in this group than he realized.

At Virgil's christening was the widowed queen Uberta of the neighboring kingdom, accompanied by her two sons; twin brothers named Roman and Remus. It just so happened that William and Uberta happened on the same idea; Roman and Virgil would be brought together each summer in hopes they would fall in love and unite their kingdoms forever. Unknown to all, deep in the forest lived Rothbart, an evil Warlock who planned to invade William's kingdom. William was informed of this plan by Rothbart's brother, Patton, who was a powerful Sorcerer. On the eve of Rothbart's invasion, William had his army attack, catching Rothbart by surprise and leaving him defeated and powerless. Against popular opinion, William let Rothbart live, only banishing him from the kingdom forever. Over time, the panic and fear passed, and everyone's minds awaited that fateful summer when Roman and Virgil would finally meet. Legs dangled over the edge of the roof, flicking the edges of the cigarettes and well.. cigar as they let the smoke rise with each puff, knuckles bruised and knees bloody, gazes watching the world below. Shouts, screams.. the world was slowly being shut down around them as they climbed down, Janus's shoulder being nudged by Remus as the two shared a soft smile, throwing and stomping out their cigarettes as they set foot on the ground. Tord and Tom being close behind as Tom took a sip from his flask as Tord chuckled, leaving his cigar between his cracked lips as they dropped their skateboards to the floor, letting the wheels roll as the four made their way out of the school grounds. They knew the rules by now, stay quiet or join in the riot.. A police car sped by as they all quickly hid behind the school wall. "Quiet- shh.. " Tord spat out as they fell silent, waiting for the sign, as Roman soon waved them over from across the road as they sped over, skateboards tucked under their arms. "Come on!" They didn't need to be asked twice as they followed behind him as they made their way through the alleyways before finding their way to the back of the closest shop as Virgil jumped down from the roof, Matt following as they smiled. "Coast is clear, Matt shut down the cameras and Logan and Patton are waiting to cause a distraction, Edd is waiting in the van." Virgil mumbled as Janus smiled nodding lightly as she shared a glance with Tord as they spared a small wave before walking into the shop, pulling up their face masks and hoods. "When you're ready Remus." The boy nodded, getting ready to run in to his girlfriend, Janus, as he smiled, happily leaning against the side of the brick wall. "You got it Emo, give it five minutes, and they'll be set up perfectly."

Virgil and Roman crash into each other in the hallway and have their own gay panics. Remus and Deceit (Damien) decide to play matchmaker for them and end up matchmaking themselves too. This is just fluff with very little conflict, I just wanted to write Virgil and Roman being useless gays. Enjoy! (This is also posted on Archive of our Own under the same name)
