A large mythical wolf that preys on those who hunt alone. In this story, a small boy decides to challenge the Amarok in his domain, the Wapheton Forest. In the following chapters I included the original poem that inspired this incredible tale. This is a short story and poem duo that I wrote for my creative writing class.

Little Nuliajuk has always wanted to be a great hunter, like her grandmother, but when she tells her family that there is a wolf on the loose, nobody can find it. They tell her she's being silly, and there are no wolves in the forest, but the howling she hears at night tells her otherwise. Determined to prove herself as a hunter, Nuliajuk decides to catch the wolf herself. But she quickly discovers that the stories about her grandmother might not be as true as she thought, and that the wolf she's been hunting really isn't a wolf at all...

Can you imagine living in the arctic when the nights appear to be endless and the frigid wind blows hard? And then there are the blizzards that can cover a whole village under a thick blanket of snow! Who would want to live there? But when summer comes and the snow disappears and the sun shines all day long, the saxifrage and arctic cotton and many other alpine flowers stick their lovely heads above the frozen tundra, transforming the landscape into a colourful woven carpet with amazing patterns that only nature is capable of.

Raspberry is a plus sized teen who struggles with no parents her landlord and her enemy or more like future husband. She doesn't know how to handle the pressure go on this domestic crazy unbelievable adventure or more like an nightmare.

A young girl of the Inuit tribe struggles to break free of the confinements of her arctic world, wishing to see the rest of the earth. When the boy she loves is assigned a dangerous quest with another girl, Aurora faces severe heartbreak and later tragedy. Troubled by these events, Aurora decides to follow her dream and escape the place of so many painful memories.

As the ROM Youth Cabinet, we completed our Wattpad writings with the support of Indigenous community members: Embodied Storyteller Monique Mojica; Artistic Director of Chocolate Woman Collective from the Kuna and Rappahannock Nations, Anishinaabeg Knowledge Keeper/Storyteller Ernie Sandy; and with editing support from Cree/Metis Writer Tyler Pennock. We had multiple writing sessions and experiences to assist in sparking our imagination during their project, including a writing retreat on the land at Colborne Lodge in High Park. Our writings were inspired by objects in the Royal Ontario Museum's Indigenous collections, as well as our experiences in the First Peoples Gallery and with the Youth Cabinet. The stories and poems are read by Youth Cabinet members. We hope you enjoy!
