But when summer comes and the snow disappears and the sun shines all day long, the saxifrage and arctic cotton and many other alpine flowers stick their lovely heads above the frozen tundra, transforming the landscape into a colourful woven carpet with amazing patterns that only nature is capable of.

Astrila is a normal girl in her Inuit tribe, but is left alone by her mother's death. She runs to the cliffs that overlook the sea and grieves, before she slips and falls off of the cliff into the icy sea. Something saves her, but what is it? Join her on her trials and discovery. The Alaskan wilderness is an unforgiving place, only the strongest can survive. I know I suck at summaries, just read the prologue.

As the ROM Youth Cabinet, we completed our Wattpad writings with the support of Indigenous community members: Embodied Storyteller Monique Mojica; Artistic Director of Chocolate Woman Collective from the Kuna and Rappahannock Nations, Anishinaabeg Knowledge Keeper/Storyteller Ernie Sandy; and with editing support from Cree/Metis Writer Tyler Pennock. We had multiple writing sessions and experiences to assist in sparking our imagination during their project, including a writing retreat on the land at Colborne Lodge in High Park. Our writings were inspired by objects in the Royal Ontario Museum's Indigenous collections, as well as our experiences in the First Peoples Gallery and with the Youth Cabinet. A large mythical wolf that preys on those who hunt alone. In this story, a small boy decides to challenge the Amarok in his domain, the Wapheton Forest. In the following chapters I included the original poem that inspired this incredible tale. This is a short story and poem duo that I wrote for my creative writing class.

A short story I made for an assignment a while back, I've gotten good feedback on it from people around me, so I hope you like it

A woman escapes an abusive husband to the struggling settlement of Brattahlid, Greenland in 1408. As the settlers face life-threatening challenges, a priest ponders the reason the woman manages to thrive and her reason for choosing to stay when the opportunity comes to leave.

Names have no meaning in Riverswift; it is the people that define them by their personalities and strengths. But for Etsu, it has never been this way. She is a soul split in two: a quiet, obedient child, and a raging beast who is eager to pick a fight with anything that bleeds. She has spent her whole life trying to figure out why she has never felt whole or at peace, until the village Shaman discovers that she has a wolf spirit trapped inside her body. And it's fighting to come out. Being kicked out of Riverswift, Etsu travels the cold lands and searches for the pack her wolf soul belongs to and return it. She befriends Namiko and Ramere on her journey, and she discovers the world outside her isolated home.
