In a alternate universe Shido dies leaving many of the spirits to rampage as an inverse. Five years later Tsumijuichi Seigino meets Tenka, the inverse Spirit who says she wants to find someone important to her. Tsumijuichi decides to help her if only to get back at the person responsible for the calamity of the past five years and the abrupt change of his formerly normal life. Similar to the one Beast Tohka came from.The protagonist is a new character. And he hilariously wants nothing to do with spirits. Everything in this world is sugar-coated. At first glance, we all see only the beauty, the beauty in the lie. But slowly, this sugar melts and that's when the truth hits us. Raw and bitter. Hard to face. We feel like running away. Giving up. But we don't. We keep fighting; even if we lose, we get up and carry on. Why? Because of the hope. Even in the horrifying truth, there is a streak of hope that keeps us going. This truth, this hope, is what makes life. And this life, in verse, is what makes this book.

Taylor Chastity Knope is just your average, everyday teenage girl. She tries her best in all her classes, works part-time as the local dog walker, and spends her weekends with her best and only friend, Sarah.
