She sat next to Lauren Aguilar in the cafeteria and complained about taper madness. She tied her hair only for races and wore her glasses everywhere else. She had a state championship. A swim banquet where she held Lauren's hand under the table. Three arcade outings that felt like forever. One night between prelims and finals where she sang karaoke and almost felt invincible. That was 2025. Summer 2026: The aliens don't care about her personal best. Three legs. Heat rays. Red weed in the Mississippi. Jaime and Lauren have one advantage: Jaime knows how to hold her breath. The Last Flip Turn is not a hero story. It is a survivor story. It follows two teenage girls through the ordinary wreckage of junior year and into an extraordinary nightmare. There are no generals, no speeches, no last-minute rescue. When Caroline Piasecki’s ex-boyfriend posts their sex pictures on the Internet, it destroys her reputation as a nice college girl. Suddenly her once-promising future doesn’t look so bright. Caroline tries to make the pictures disappear, hoping time will bury her shame. Then a guy she barely knows rises to her defense and punches her ex to the ground. Watershed is a novel about American agriculture's slow collapse, about masculine silence and rural erasure, about what we destroy to keep it from being taken. Written in spare, muscular prose reminiscent of Jim Harrison, it's an elegy for a way of life and an unflinching portrait of a man who would rather ruin everything than watch it become something else. Some forms of love look like violence. Some acts of preservation require destruction. Some men go down swinging even when the fight is already lost.

Nailea grew up in Iowa with her two best friends, Paige and Kate. She was raised by her dad and at the age of 10, she had to move to Connecticut where her dad's girlfriend lived with her son. Despite living in another state, she tried to maintain her friendship with Paige and Kate through letters since they weren't allowed to have phones. However, she lost touch with Kate, and Paige eventually moved to Connecticut. Adding to her challenges, her father passed away. Currently, Nailea faces the difficult situation of leaving her home due to her stepmother's disapproval of her sexuality. She relocates to Iowa, where her only other family member, Aunt Lisa, resides. Aunt Lisa is the women's basketball coach at Iowa. Nailea makes the move with her older brother and his wife. She worries about leaving behind her girlfriend, Caroline, and her best friend, Paige, and wonders if her relationship with Caroline will withstand the distance. Besides, she is concerned about mending her relationship with her stepmother.

Alexander didn't believe in love at first sight, and still doesnt. But things chanfe when he meets Micah. The pair will go through trials that they must try to overcome if they are to make their relationship work.
