Every ten years since 1690, a person is chosen after they kill someone to enter a sort of purgatory. They can enter this realm by killing someone through self-defense, accident, or even murder. There they must travel back to earth basically as ghosts and help people. When they have helped enough people, They proceed on to what they would have gone to if they had skipped purgatory. Oliver is a young tween who travels to this realm after he kills a robber. There, he makes friends from different decades and begins to realize the impact he has made on earth when he visits.
