The Eye has seen-the world will end, unless the apocalypse is properly thwarted. Unfortunately, this task has been handed to the two worst people for the job. Gadowyn Harker is a poison-peddling witch of the Gold City with a curse: if she loves, she will lose her powers-and herself. Beau "The Beautificent" Beguile (not his real name) is a smug necromancer who cons the rich and has a lifelong allergy to love, and all its messy bits. Now they must do the unthinkable: bring a dragon and a future knight-princess-sworn enemy of dragonkind-together, romantically. The world would do well to start praying; the chances of success are slim at best. Meanwhile, the Gold City teeters on the brink of collapse, undead roam the streets (entirely Beau's fault), and the end of the world draws ever closer. Somehow, Gadowyn and Beau must save it all with love-without falling prey to it themselves. First draft written for ONC 2026 | Main Prompts 11 & 98

It was a dark and stormy night. And then it got complicated. And then a world ended, but at least we got to talk about it. A strange meta-narrative romp through imaginary worlds of dubious originality meets an exploration of what it means to tell stories, to read and to write.

On Crossover Eve, a phantom turd appears in the bathroom of the Old Priest and Rat Tavern. Master Bard Marlee Nightfall tells the Feckin' Tale of Glenn Vikibod, who must become a pirate on the Dragon's Fiery Poot, learn fighting at the hands of the Ha'Penny Porkers (vicious were-guinea pigs), avenge his father's murder, find the pirate's fetching flame-haired daughter and retrieve the cursed Big Bean! Utterly silly and thoroughly delightful, with jokes scatological and gas most diabolical. If you're of legal age, play along with Marlee in her 'Huzzah!' and 'What Ho! drinking game.

They say everyone plans the wedding but no one plans for the marriage, a problem Sam Aaron contemplates as he cautiously considers new love in the wake of a failed marriage. Sam is a musicology student and the lead poet of the irreverent rock band Whacking Poetic. Out of the spotlight, Sam and his surgical resident wife Alex perform a perfectly rehearsed lifelong duet- she manages the rigid timekeeping while he provides the song and dance. Then, over the course of a single Halloween evening in 2005, Alex threatens divorce, the band's fame train gets derailed, and Sam meets Sarah Ashbury, a whimsical singer-songwriter that would soon join the band and upend Sam's understanding of love and artistic impact. Soon, Sam's marriage becomes a dissonant fugue while Sarah's mesmerizing voice and alluring persona quicken the band's tempo. Sam's world evolves through a sonata of emotions, the first movement a dirge of atonal uncertainty that comes with marriage failure. The second movement is a harmonically suspended chorale of new love that doesn't quite resolve, but instead collapses into the third and final movement, a crescendoing counterpoint of incompatible goals. ©2015 D.A. Four strangers. One wrong email. And a global crisis they have absolutely no business being involved in. When a retired teacher, a mall "tech expert," a stressed-out single mom, and a conspiracy podcaster accidentally get looped into a classified government thread, they do what any reasonable people would do - panic, lie, and pretend they know what's going on. Within a week, they're being hailed as national heroes for "foiling" a cyber-attack they didn't even know existed. The only problem? The government now expects them to do it again. The Idiots' Guide is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud comedy about ordinary people caught in extraordinary stupidity. It's part spy thriller, part social satire, and all chaos - proving that sometimes, the world doesn't need geniuses... it just needs idiots with Wi-Fi and A personality
