The Baudelaire Mansion had recently been destroyed in a fire- along with Mr and Mrs Baudelaire. So, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny were forced to live at Count Olaf's, an evil man who only wants the enormous Baudelaire fortune. Not only that, he also seeks the Quagmire sapphires as well, since the Quagmire mansion and Mr and Mrs Quagmire had reached the same fate as the Baudelaires. To obtain those, Count Olaf adopts two sets of orphans, which throws him off completely. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BTW this is a mix of the books, the series, and some of my own stuff.
