While on a vacation with her family, Mirella Gasper gets dragged into secrets that threaten to tear an entire society apart. She encounters a man who makes and sells knives, a young man who sells old games and devices, for a hefty price, and a woman who knows more about a criminal than she wants to admit. Mirella is only here because her younger sister is the maiden of honor at a wedding and begged her to come. Despite her slightly difficult nature, she is anything but oblivious to the world around her. She finds out more about the missing people from the legends, and has an idea that they are not as gone as most people seem to think. Can she manage to stop the cruelty on the island, or will she too just fade into the background, forgotten by everyone?
