They want her to heal, but Betty thinks they're just annoying. Instead of doing everything to survive she is ignoring her disease as much as possible. One day her parents tell her that she can go back to school. The doctor said that Betty was doing great and she's healing. Her disease isn't transferable but she didn't got the chance to feel real love yet. She has been not going to school for three years because the doctor said her ending was nearby.
