About My Short Stories This is an ongoing collection of short stories-each one inspired by the people who've left a mark on my life. Family, friends, coworkers, and even passing acquaintances all have their own stories, and here you'll find them captured in snapshots. Some are funny, some bittersweet, some unforgettable-but all of them are real moments seen through my eyes. A celebration of the characters we meet along the way, and the ways they shape who we become.

Set roughly a year before the events of "Calliope of Atalan: The American Dream," Promise of a New Day follows the backstory of Fortuna and her cousin, Lucina. Whenever they don't have to endure the hell known as Pegasus High, the two can be found lounging around on lawn chairs, smoking cigarettes as they argue over their vastly different music tastes, before going on to vent over their family, who also just so happen to be part of the Griffin Mafia. Abrasively disaffected over the seemingly mundane nature of their existence, a number of events cause things to take a dark turn for the both of them. As they navigate malicious lies and rumors, unsteady home lives, high school drama, unexpected friendships, encounters with a number of interesting characters from South Atalan and getting unwittingly entangled in the Mafia's web of crime, they both come to realize that nothing about their lives were as they seemed. Amidst these new challenges, their deep bond soon falls into jeopardy, and suffice to say, the chance that it will remain in the end looks a little slim to none.
