When 16 year-old Megumi Haruno was involved in a near-death accident, she lost her confidence in swimming in front of others. Still never giving up, she continues to harbor her dream of making it to the Olympics by practicing. Megumi was the competitive swimmer every one wanted to be and defeat. "Out of sight, out of mind", right? But too frightened of disappointing others, she spends her nights swimming at the indoor pool where she works at. One night, when she went for a swim, the swimmers from Iwatobi High spotted her. Knowing her secret love for swimming never left her since the accident, they begin to persuade her to join. Mei's the girl that the swim team feels the need to protect and love. "E-eh?! What are you Iwatobi boys doing?!"
