Makaze just wanted to keep her brood safe. She was the eldest even if Ran was only two weeks behind her. She is the big sis, the mother if you will. She is the one who knows the most about their traditions and culture. She will teach them. She will care for them. She will be there for them through thick and thin. She will do whatever she needs to ensure their happiness and survival. She will die for them.
But even still she had her limits. And when they all fell ill to a sickness unknown to her Makaze couldn't help beating herself up for her lacking knowledge.
"You can't blame yourself for not knowing, you were too young to understand" Omi said.
And isn't that right? She was only 8 when it happened.
"You'll burn out if you keep going like this,"
"Share the burden with your brood, not just the gold,"
Omi began acting like the brother and brother-in-law he was rather than a man trapped in his grief. He became the lifeline to free Makaze from her own prison.
