Jack and you used to be highschool sweethearts until you had broken up towards your senior year, it was heartbreaking for you but you found a way past it. Years later, you see Jack on the TV all the time. He owns one of the biggest fast food chains in America now, all you do is work at a diner that barely pays you enough to get by. How did I end up like this?

December 24th, xxxx 23:30 "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." I mutter to myself. I glance past the edge of the couch I am hiding behind. I can't see anything. It's just black, a dark nothingness. It's so empty, I can feel myself being swallowed up by it. Then I see it, a sudden movement by the hallway. It is so small I almost missed it. There in the hall is a Jack-in-a-box. A child's toy. Harmless. I knew otherwise. I knew that if I wanted to survive the night, I would have to stay far away from the plaything.
