"Perfection." We all just stare at him. I slump head into my fingers so they're in between the bridge of my nose and my forehead. "You've got to be kidding me," I say quietly to myself. He slowly walks up to me and shoots me a glare. "What are you saying?" I throw my hands out in frustration. "We're HUMAN. You can't expect us to be perfect. No matter how hard we try." "Oh you won't need to try," He replies. "That's already done for you. It's just a simple process, really. Science has brought us to something that will solve all our problems. If you just agree to it..." Bella shakes her head. "I don't get it. It shouldn't be that way. Perfection won't fix anything." He lets out a breath and begins pacing in front of us again. "Let me redefine the word. Perfection: Free of all flaws, sicknesses, injuries, problems... whatever you can think of." He gets closer to Alice, watching her carefully. "You would be clean, beautiful. You would have the perfect body, perfect health, amazing strength, and a mind that can work wonders." Her eyes light up, hearing this. "Really?" She asks with a soft voice. "All of that?" He nods, grinning. "Yes, all of that. In just one simple experiment." She's being convinced. But something seems wrong, everything he says just sounds like stupid lies being spit from his mouth. My hearts feels heavy, burdened. But it's not my burden. Maybe there was no way out of this. "So are you in?" He asks Alice. I step up. "No," I say, probably too loudly. "No, I'm not. This ...this is stupid. Just let us out. Let us go back." He laughs and turns to me shaking his head at me like he's ashamed. "Don't you get it? There is no way back."

Being blind wouldn't be that bad. At least you wouldn't have to see evil in the world. Being deaf wouldn't be that bad either. The cruel, hurtful words would just zip past your head without you knowing that they even existed. Death, on the other hand, may or may not be bad.
