Sam's life was cut short and he became one of the things that he vowed to destroy, a ghost. As he tries to keep a grip on his sanity, he tries to speak to the others, but it was all in vein. Nothing is working and none of their equipment can pick up his presence. Dean, Cas, and Jack are all effected by Sam's death in different ways.
