The first time the Dagger Squad were introduced to Y/n "Shadow" Seresin, was a hot July night when the man sharing her name had one too many celebratory drinks after another successful detachment for the group.

Freya 'Spike Seresin. She was a Naval aviator, A badass one to be specific. She was 24 years old. And had an older brother who was 27. Called Jake. He was also a Naval aviator, and his callsign was 'hangman' his callsign was picked because when he's your hangman, he leaves you, hanging. Mine is called spike because I get my tones quick, like a spike. Jake and Freya are quite cocky, since they know they're good. Then there's Natasha Trace, She knows and hates Jake. She is also 27 years old and went to the same flight academy as Jake, when I did not. She's more of a good girl, a teachers pet. And that is exactly why her and Jake hate each other. Of course I was told about her, I'm jakes sister. But never in my life did I think I'd meet her, until I did, at top gun. And as they say, you can't fight fire with fire. And that's exactly what we are together, fire and fire. Phoenix hates who freya is, she hates the cockiness, but she also saw another thing about her, a thing that made her eyes stay on the 'spike' of a person. Freya always noticed something about Phoenix, it was hard not to. She was.. different , and even though there meant to hate each other, they can't. And they can't stay away either.

Natasha Trace is used to being marveled and stared at. She's the only woman in her flight class. For the most part, the staring only leads to occasional requests to join the remainder of her cohort for drinks at the nearest bar to base. She always refuses. Her COs have enough to say about her without resorting to the usual criticisms of her gender, which going to a bar would garner. But Natasha's only human. When she seeks out a bar to get drunk where nobody knows her name, she's surprised to find the one man she never wanted to see off base dropping into the seat next to her. The conversation that follows changes her life and gives her a callsign.

sarah "ace" seresin; the sister of the one and only jake "hangman" seresin have both been called down to top gun. sarah goes along side her best friend and weapons' systems operator, Jess "striker" o'connell, who she has been flying with since flight school. after meeting all of the pilots she would be flying with for the next while there was only one in particular she couldn't get out of her head, bradly "rooster" bradshaw.

It started as just a way to win karaoke night. Jake's country twang could make anyone weak at the knees; Natasha had four years of school choir experience under her belt; Bradley's piano-playing that night at the Hard Deck was its own proof; Micky and Javy were both in Glee club; Bob had a surprisingly strong tenor voice after a few lessons; and Reuben's falsetto could bring anyone to shame. One night after they had gone on someone in the audience yelled, "When's the album coming out?" Everyone laughed it off but it stuck with Bradley. He started doing some research between training and nights at the Hard Deck, slowly learning all he could about forming a band and making music. Soon, he was convinced they could make it big as a band. The others weren't as optimistic.
