Two years after the disastrous event resulting in the death of his daughter, guilt-driven Reiner trades his fast-paced, luxury life in Chicago for a quiet, rural cottage located in the small town of Chapala, Mexico. Forsaken by his wife and fired from a prestigious law firm, the only person Reiner can count on now is Jeremy, his loyal and unwavering best friend since high school. Unexpectedly, Reiner befriends a boy named Freddie, his young mother Terri and grandma Lita who bring hope back into his life. While seeking answers he comes across a healer named Toñita and her English interpreting assistant; seven-year-old Ponchito who lives in an orphanage. Their encounter leaves Reiner questioning if he will ever know what this weeping woman is trying to tell him, for deciphering this mystery seems to be directly connected to figuring out how to cope with his own grief.

There are many things you can't protect yourself from, like being attacked to someone you just met. Sometimes I like to say that it wasn't my fault, but it seems it was. It was a hot night in jalisco. Tossing and tossing around my bed trying to sleep then I heard my grandmother scream, I got scared I got up and ran and i accidentally ran into my bedroom door i fell and got up as fast as I could i ran into my grand parents room i asked "what happened grandmother" she pointed to the window I turned on a light and I saw footsteps heading to the window shaking i went outside to check who was it but i saw the front door opened i gasped and went out I went to the window and heared people talking to one another in a mad voice I thought it was the people that lived next door ,after that i went back in and went to my grandma's room but m grandma and my grandpa werent there! i got scared i was alone! and after a while of staring into my grandparents bed i went back into my room then i layed on my bed and put pillows around me to pretend that it was them and i felt safe, hugging my pillow grand father i felt asleep the next day i went to check if my parents
