The Enterprise has been sent to investigate the cause of a deadly blight that had set on a once lively world, Katsina. This blight turns the innocent living into parasitic, ravenous, mutations that seek out the uninfected to spread the blight and that is how this planet's residents are falling victim. The landing party has their work cut out for them when a couple of them go missing and they are all stuck there as the strange energy radiating from the planet interferes with communication and makes it impossible for the landing parties to keep in touch with the ship. (There are a little hints that this fic was inspired by one of my favorite movies that Karl Urban played in but this will remain as a story interpreting the original ST characters)
