He has now transferred to Red Hook High School where he meets Lukas Waldenbeck, a motocross enthusiast, and the two become friends. Lukas lives alone with his single alcoholic father, who began drinking after the death of his mother. He's popular and rich but on the inside has nothing to fill the void that he feels.
