"I just-want to hold onto it for a second more," she said, softer now, gaze drifting past him. "Before it all slips... this, with Marty, and the team, and Cassie, and-" she hesitated, looking him in the eyes, just briefly, "everything." A beat.
"Slips?" He said, leaning in the doorway.
She shrugged, already reaching for something on the counter. "It sounded better in my head."
He didn't move. "Did it?"
Blair let out a small breath, half a smile pulling at her mouth. "Don't read into it."
"Wasn't planning to," he said. "Just sounded like it mattered."
She glanced at him for a second, then looked away. "It doesn't."
"Yeah," he said quietly. "I don't think that's true."
