Jade Rowan Schmidt, from the age of four, became friends with Jesse McCree after she snuck out to Deadlock Gorge after her curfew with a couple of friends. Several years later, she protected him, and the two joined the ranks of Overwatch, him going on to Blackwatch, while she stayed as an assistant for Dr. Moira O'Deorain. She became friends with Fareeha Amari, a girl whose mother, Captain Ana Amari, was also part of Overwatch. After a while, Moira helped her with an interest of her own. But one day, Moira abandoned her when and experiment went south, resulting in her near death, but that didn't deter her from staying in Overwatch. Helping where she can, she meets someone whom she considers to be the most pestilent nuisance in all of Overwatch. That mindset doesn't last long, however...

Humans and omnics could live peacefully. They would've too, had it not been for the sudden change in their codes. Their overnight alteration that caused them to want for nothing more than the death of humanity. Giving them the name 'zomnics', humans and heroes fear for their lives as they do whatever they can to survive this new apocalyptic world, in which machines are driven by the desire to kill. McCree, Mercy, Zarya, Mei, Reaper and D.Va are joined by Hanzo, Junkrat and Roadhog, as the group begins making their way towards the safe camp 'Overwatch', where they believe they can shut down these machines. The world has gone up into flames. Talon continues to merciless strike countries that stand no chance against them and no one is there to save the day. Hope is dying rapidly along with humanity. Overwatch has been revived but under the radar for now as they try to recruit those with the compassion in their hearts and the will to fight for what's right. But Winston begins to struggle to find the heroes the world desperately needs. Until Overwatch finds a drop of water amidst the flames... and in the strangest, most contradicting heroes.
