"As much as I don't value sentiment, I'm always inclined to... give priority to my first-time experiences." One of St. Mungo's highly skilled Mediwizards is being transferred to Hogwarts this year, unbeknownst to everyone that it was upon Dumbledore's urgent behest. While there, she meets droll and brooding, Severus Snape, the man on the other end of the spectrum; a man she had never expected to meet but was actually quite glad she did. The Summary In a world where every word is weighed for its worth, Leah Hanna has learned that silence is her only sanctuary. Told by a cruel mother that she is a "stuttering idiot" and a burden to her family, Leah retreats into the shadows of her estate, finding companionship only in her two loyal dogs and the wild, untamed beauty of the woods. She has resigned herself to a life of isolation, certain that no man could ever see past her hesitant speech to the woman beneath. Enter Tom Hayward, a brilliant but struggling junior barrister tasked with overseeing the family's legal affairs. Burdened by his own pride and a meager income of only £100 a year, Tom believes he has nothing to offer a woman of Leah's station. Yet, as they walk together through the emerald canopy of the forest, he hears the music in her stutter and sees the "rare sort of goodness" that the rest of the world has failed to notice. When a wealthy and arrogant suitor, Mr. Lake, threatens to claim Leah's hand, Tom must decide between his rigid sense of propriety and the fierce, protective love he feels for the girl who dances in the rain. A story of missed cues, simmering jealousy, and a harrowing storm on a limestone hill, "The Quiet Between Us" is a classic tale of two souls discovering that true worth isn't found in a bank ledger, but in the gentleness of a voice that finally promises: "I will always come back to you."

When Madalene Montgomery returns to London after years away, she has only one goal: to secure an impressive proposal of marriage in her first season as a London debutante. Yet her reunion with the affluent Radcliffe family threatens the undoing of all her carefully laid plans. Enter Jacob Radcliffe, the older brother of her closest childhood friends, now a man of the ton -- handsome, popular, alluring --- and totally out of bounds according to Madalene's family. Not that it seems to matter much, seeing as upon reacquaintance, Jacob quickly declares he wants nothing to do with her. Yet as she guides her way through a season of endless, glittering ballrooms, dimlit garden-parties and chance encounters with the very same Radcliffe son who claims to loathe her, Madalene soon learns there are no rules when it comes to matters of the heart, and that to follow duty and save her family from ruin, she may have to sacrifice her one true chance at love.

Emma from Jane Austen. Emma Woodhouse is one of Austen's most captivating and vivid characters. Beautiful, spoilt, vain and irrepressibly witty, Emma organizes the lives of the inhabitants of her sleepy little village and plays matchmaker with devastating effect. #HessasBookshelf

This is a story loosely based on Jane Austen's book 'Pride and Prejudice'. I am a huge Austen fan and I love her works, the tension, the romance and the twists. This is my own attempt to do something that was inspired by her work. In this short story, I have used the same characters with some minor differences and updates - since the story occurs in the modern days. I have changed some names and events - sadly no one is throwing neighborhood balls anymore smh. So yeah enjoy your reading and feel free to let me know your thoughts. Totally open to suggestions if I feel they adapt well to the story. Have a fun read loves!

"Love for me was like falling off a horse. I fell, got bruised, and lost my will to hop back into the saddle." -Bridget Atherton in a letter to Lady Helen explaining her disinterest in finding herself a husband in height of London's season, 1811. There are four things that headstrong Bridget Atherton knows with absolute certainty: First, being in love can blind a person from seeing things for what they truly are. Second, this is an especially dangerous habit when one is in the company of agreeable gentlemen. Third, the humiliation that follows her failed courtship during Bridget's first year in high society jades her from actively seeking out a husband. And finally, her life became infinitely less complicated once she decided to remain single. But when a chance encounter throws her into the arms of a handsome stranger, Bridget discovers that what she knew for certain is about to change. Does she decide to play it safe or venture to risk it all in the name of love?

Set before the events of Jane Austen's Persuasion, The Croft's Beginning is a heartfelt fan fiction that reimagines the early married life of Admiral and Mrs. Croft. Drawing on historical naval research and Austen's original characterizations, this prequel explores the deep bond and equal partnership between the Crofts as they navigate love, duty, and life at sea. A tribute to enduring romance and resilient womanhood, the story brings to life the untold beginnings of one of Austen's most admired couples.
