"It felt pure." Dean's struggling to his angel, who doesn't think he deserves to be saved. Takes place in Purgatory, during season 8.

"Rowan for the hundredth time, yes you have to come to the party. I'm sick of making up excuses for why you don't come to events with us." Our mom sounded so exasperated over the phone, I could practically see her rubbing her temples. Our parents wanted us to come with them to our mom's best friend's holiday party around an hour away from mine and Rose's apartment, and I weren't exactly feeling like going on my first free Saturday in a long time. Plus, the holidays were still three weeks away. Who has a party this early? "But Mom, I don't think I have time to drive out there. I'm so busy," I countered. "You realize we share a Netflix account and that I can see that you're forty-five minutes into a Black Mirror episode, right?" Shit, caught, I thought. I tried to think of any other excuse that could keep me firmly rooted to my couch for the rest of the weekend, but came up short. "Ugh, fine. I'll come," I conceded, pausing my episode and springing into motion. Mental math told me if i wanted to get to the party on time, I would have to leave relatively soon. "But only because I know the food will be good."

Cas had one of those gazes that looked as if he could see into your soul, as if he knew something that you didn't. This unnerved Dean more than he would like to admit. Sometimes he would catch Cas staring at him at the most unusual moments, and other times Cas would look at Dean as if he were trying to tell him something, yet wasn't able to release the secret from his locked lips. Dean was fine. He had to be fine. But the nightmares were getting worse and his headaches seemed to never cease. It had truly been a miracle that Dean had escaped Hell as he did, but the young Winchester couldn't help feeling that something was off about him. That something was missing. There was a man, a figure that Dean couldn't quite make out. He was haunting Dean's dreams and he didn't know why. Nor did he understand the strange warmth that this man brought with him.
