"The last thing I want to do is lie to you. But this burden is mine to bear, and mine alone."
Cory Jackson wasn't normal. And as much as she wanted to be, she knew deep down that having a normal life wasn't in her future. Her twin and other half, Percy, was the same way, but unlike her, he took it all in stride. And it almost worked too, if not for the prophecy regarding whether or not they would save the world or destroy it. Not to mention the other unknown prophecy that speaks about Cory's supposed prophetic soulmate, which happens to be the one person that she knew she shouldn't fall for.
Not that Percy would have anything to say about that, though.
It isn't until Cory is sent through the enemy lines in an effort to make peace does she meet him, and though their love had been destined for many years, there will be problems. The biggest one? Keeping both her Greek and Roman lives separate from everyone until the time is right.
Her numerous near-death experiences, until then, would be another.
(The Lightning Thief -- The Last Olympian)
I don't own Percy Jackson. All of that goes to Rick Riordan.
