Astrid is working for Pitch because he has her family and he as promised to release them as long as Astrid is a good servant and speaks of this deal to no one. Jack and Astrid have once had been best friends and were in love, but Jack died soon. And then Gothel removed her memories. Jack remembers her. But she doesn't remember him.
