*set nineteen years after Chasing Amy* Carla is seventeen and it is the summer before senior year. She is obsessed with things before her time, and even dresses as if she lives in the 90's. Her mother, Bethany, is pressuring her to go to college to be a lawyer but Carla is determined to be a comic book artist. Carla has never known why her mother has never supported her dreams or where her father has been all of her life. A lot of questions have gone unanswered in Carla's life and some times her mother acts quite strange. One day when Carla finally stands up for herself and defends her dreams, her mother comes up with a deal. Carla must prove to Bethany that being a comic book artist makes good money and will give her a good life. Carla has trouble at first but soon comes up with the perfect idea. She gets in contacts with two of her mother's old friends who have a lot to do with comic books and know a comic book artist.+10 more- Reads 22
