Koko sat cross-legged on Jay's bed, hoodie slipping off one shoulder, her curls a soft halo around her face. The room was quiet except for the hum of a playlist still running on low SZA fading into H.E.R. and the way their laughter had just started to settle.
Jay stood in front of her, his chain catching the light as he leaned down, hands on either side of her thighs.
"You done staring?" she asked, a small smirk tugging at her lips.
"Nah," he said, voice low. "I could look at you forever."
She rolled her eyes, but her smile gave her away. "You so extra."
"And you love it," he said, pulling her gently to the edge of the bed. "Don't lie."
Koko's fingers brushed his jaw, then slid into the waves at the back of his head. She kissed him slow, with intention before pulling back to look him in the eye.
"I love you, Jay," she said quietly. "Like, real love. Not just some late night tryna fuck type love"
His playful energy shifted in an instant. He stepped closer, his hands finding her waist like they belonged there. "You serious?"
She nodded. "Yeah. I just needed you to know."
Jay kissed her forehead first, then her cheek, then finally her lips again longer this time, no rush, just feeling everything in the moment.
"I love you too, Koko. Ain't never been this sure about anything."
She smiled, eyes a little glossy, and pressed her head into his chest.
"Say it again," she whispered.
"I love you," he said, wrapping his arms around her tight. "And I mean that. Forever type love."
