Joan, a talented reporter and girl with many language skills, has just escaped from Czechoslovakia, which is plagued by Soviet occupation. In there, Joan meets Joseph Descamps, a charismatic but controversial young man whose reputation as a bully initially repels her. Known for imposing his power on the weak.
