It is 2031. World War III just started four months ago and is quickly accelerating past levels of violence any war has seen. Nuclear warfare is at its worst. Jemimah Smith heads out into the wilderness on her own in hopes of finding safety. Before she can get very far, she runs into one of the richest families in the country. One thing leads to another, and she finds herself a mile underground. Now Jem has to find a way to fit in with these people. Will they ever consider her a part of their family?

Chad is having a hard time excepting facts as a new villain appears in his school. He loses one of his friends and he's getting crazy dreams. As he thought he wasn't going to see the person he loves so much, he can see her and she joins the fight to save Jem and defeat the villain known as Lance, Jessica's brother.
