Life in Roxbury was pretty peaceful for a young woman like Violet. She grew accustomed to the quiet and secluded life she's had for the past two years. She wouldn't even think about returning to Milwaukee. It isn't until her best and only friend tells her of his dreams of leaving town and going to the city that she considers taking the trip home. Throughout her time at home, she faces the consequences of leaving her family, the struggle of mending broken friendships, and the relationship with a man that she ran away from those two long years ago.
