His tall form was standing over me, looking down at my broken body. His fiery red hair stood out against the snow, a complete contrast to the scene around him. My eyes were drawn to him, I longed to run my fingers through his Scarlett locks. He let out a breath, which turned into smoke from the chilly air. I was snapped out of my daze, and looked up to meet his eyes. Snowflakes rested on his long red lashes, and I was instantly pulled into the depths of blue eyes. He smiled, showing off his perfectly straight teeth. "Hi, gorgeous" he spoke. "I'm Jerome".

There was no escaping the storm of lunacy that would fall upon Gotham, but little did I know that I'd be caught in its eye. Too much had changed; too much had been lost. Maniac laughter had befallen on my life, constantly ringing in my head. It felt like a curse. It was a curse - one that he had cast on me the moment we met. But despite everything - despite all that had changed and all that had been lost - it was still to him that I felt drawn. He was the one constant in my life, even when he wasn't. I knew.
