There is nothing in this world that can be compared to the creative mind of children and their fantasies. Children create worlds inside their heads and do whatever they can to bring it to reality somehow, whether it is through games and storytelling, making their eyes and ears believe the fantasies they wish to experience. Sadly, as they grow up, those fantasies are only kept as memories of greater times.
Is the same for Monkey D. Luffy. As a student of Grand Line college, Luffy had to leave behind the fantasies he lived in since he was a child. That doesn't mean he didn't like them any less, but reality is something he learned to acknowledge over time. Still, he turns back to those fantasies time and time again whenever he needs a break. There's a certain book he treasures with his body and soul. A book about pirates and fantastic seas, which he once wished he could navigate as the characters within the story. If he could take a ship and raise a black flag with a skull on it, he would in a heartbeat. But fantasies are meant to be treasured because they can come true, right? ... Right?
