Meek orphaned street girl, Eve-Ella Stone, has been without her parents since she was seven years old. Her father was killed in a house fire, while her mother disappeared one night and never returned. Now, at age 14, she struggles to keep or find employment, with many of her employers' complaints being about her presence making them uneasy... When she finds an advertisement for a position as a maid at the Trancy residence, she immediately jumps at the opportunity. Almost immediately after her interview, she is accepted into the job. Now the second maid at the Trancy Manor, she has daily time around the earl, Alois Trancy. The boy seems to have taken a liking to her, especially over the head maid, Hannah. This includes allowing her to call him by name when it's the two of them, allowing her to look at him and even giving her her own room. The girl doesn't quite understand this strange form of special treatment, but she doesn't question it. However, when Earl Trancy mingles with the Earl Phantomhive, Ciel, things take an interesting turn. Eve starts having nightmares about shadowy figures and dark voices, telling her unimaginable things. On top of that, Alois starts to seemingly court Eve, offering her a place at his side. An offer that feels too good to be true... Especially when her nightmares grow worse and worse... When she learns that her fellow servants are demons... When she learns of the contacts between the rivaling earls and their head butlers... When she learns that there is a secret about herself that she never knew about...
