After Jimmy and the other late night hosts are snubbed from the Met Gala in favor of Victor Halstead, Jimmy attends a Knicks game instead-and is surprised to find himself happier there than he would have been posing for cameras across town. The next day, a phone call with his fired friend leaves him even more unsettled when his friend admits that after his final show, he plans to go back to being a B-lister, take smaller projects, and spend more time with his family. Jimmy starts wondering whether that kind of quieter life might be waiting for him too, remembering the years before late night when he and Nancy had more peace, and all the bedtime routines, school events, and ordinary family moments he missed because of The Tonight Show. For the first time, he realizes his future may come down to one painful choice: renew his contract and keep doing the job he loves, or let the lights fade so he can finally give more of himself to his family.
