On the day of what was supposed to be her kidnapping, she is in her home testing poisons when she did not mean to use leaves her not able to move. Luomen not being able to take care of her by him self has her live in the Verdigris House. One day a man who looks like he is form the Rear Palace comes to visit. When he sees Maomao sitting on the balcony he goes to sit with her after asking how she was and paying to get in. starts to have a conversation with her. what will this do for Maomao's life.

I personally really love the apothecary diaries and especially Maomao x jinshi, so this is my slightly AU of what would have happened if Maoma and jinshi met as kids and if lakan was in Maomao's life and the rest will be the same as what's already out in the anime and my version of certain events to suit my narrative better.

This fanfiction takes place between the episodes "Chance or Something more" and "Thornapple," after Maomao has prevented the assassination attempt on Jinshi.
