"Don't you ever wish we'd tried?" Key said, looking up at the night sky. "I wish it every day." Jonghyun whispered, sitting on the grass next to his best friend. "It wouldn't have worked out, Jjong." "I'd like to think it would've. I still think it would, I just regret not ever giving us a try." Key couldn't help but look back on their past, all the heart ache they shared because they knew they were in love with each other. Love was a wonderful, beautiful thing. It brought hope, new experiences, happiness, a sense of completion. But for Jonghyun and Key, idols in South Korea, all they were given because of love was pain. Meeting each other as trainees, getting to know each other as group mates, falling in love as best friends. It was tough for them. They were part of something beautiful for so long, they'd been near each other for so long, it was almost incomprehensible for one to be without the other.

My heart skips a beat at the sight of the sleeping Ki Bum in the bed parallel to mine. He looks ethereal in the morning light. I reconsider the dark curtains just because he looks beautiful with the sunlight illuminating his face. I glance at the clock, trying to distract myself and slow down my heartbeat, seeing it is only 6:13 am. Too bright to go back to sleep, too early to get out of bed. I roll over all the way to get a better view of Key, it can't hurt to look at him just for a bit. Blond hair messy and falling softly on his forehead, bow-shaped lips slightly parted, blankets half covering his legs, half on the floor, his torso bare. My heart beat escalated, much too fast to be normal. But what is normal for me? This feeling had been there since the trainee days, not as intense, but always present.

I found myself looking at his perfectly bow shaped lips too long, and I was caught. I blushed a bit, and he smiled. I loved his smile. It was warm and comforting, just like the morning sun. It seemed to melt my heart like the sun melting ice on grass in the spring. I wanted to sit up with him, maybe tug on some of his golden hair, maybe caress his cheek, maybe kiss his lips. The more I looked at him, the more things I wanted to do with him. I wanted to go on a picnic, I wanted to take him down to the lake, I wanted to finally get him to shift. I wanted to get to know him more. I wanted him to be mine.

A/N I tried giving a few SHINee references here and there; which honestly cracked me up. I really couldn't find any names that suited Taemin, so that's still up for discussion. You can imagine the female lead as anyone you like, but if you must, you can imagine Boa. Also I won't able to preserve all of the SHINee members' personalities so please just imagine that they are doing a drama or something. This is my first fanfic so I did pick a fairly easy storyline and predictable storyline.
