You are cuddled up at home during a rainy November day when there's suddenly a knocking on your door. Although you try to ignore it you eventually open the door as you realize that it's your best friend Joe who is standing in front of the door. And he looks as if his world had fallen into pieces and that you are basically the only person he wants to see and talk to in that moment.

As you enter your house, you realize that it's unusually quiet until you find your daughter crying on her bed, sobbing that she had hurt her dead. You have no idea what to make out of it until you find him in the bathroom, the misery he's in amusing you more than it should. Nick threw the glass cup to the wall, causing it to shatter into hundreds of minuscule pieces. "I don't love her anymore! You can rub it in my face and tell me that I do, but I don't Loren!" He yelled in my face. Though, I can sense the hurt, and care in his voice. "Don't lie to yourself Nick! I'm always competing against her yet everything I do, will always make me come below her. Just admit it, you want her back, don't let me stop you." I told him with tears streaming down my face as I paced around but not getting close to where Nick stood. He stepped closer to me, stopping me in my tracks, inches away from my face. "What can I do to prove you wrong?" He whispered. He leans in closer and closer, his breathing became audible to my ears and his hands firmly gripped my waist pulling me closer to his body until his lips touch mine. He kissed me passionately but gently. And I responded quickly with the same tenderness he gave me. But all too soon, he pulled away, letting these words escape his lips. "I love you so much Loren, nobody can change how I feel about you no matter what they try to do."

When Joe tells you that he wants to break up with you, you can't believe your ears. Especially when you're hearing his supposed reason, that you instantly know, that is a lie. When he finally opens up and tells you the real reason, you want to kick his sorry butt right away. After all, making this relationship work is just a matter of trying.

You and Joe are married, living a happy life with your daughter, although it's often hard for her, when he is not around. As the both of you look through some older pictures, memories overwhelm you.
