However, Nyx has a secret that only the fireflies know. She's a cure for mankind. A new group joins Marlene's group and in hopes of building a bright and safe future. Ellie and meets Nyx, who is also a cure for mankind, but somehow Nyx is very fond with Ellie after realizing that she isn't anything like those other people who kill. She and Ellie become inseparable and both hopes to survive this together. After meeting Joel, who changes their point of view about the past, and takes them across America to deliver them to the fireflies trying to find the cure.
