SHORT STORY For Lisa, everyday life in Brooklyn wasn't cuttin it, so that's why she was so excited to attend NYU in the fall. As for the summer, she was stuck helping her father out at his local grocery store. Every so often her goofy high school buddies would visit the store- But when this guy, Joey, falls into the clique suddenly, she felt there was something more to him. So she began to find the need to befriend him. Lisa and Joey's friendship would lead to things that neither one of them saw coming.

He needed an escape and she was able to provide one.

Jamie-Lee Williams did just what her parents wanted: she engaged a Harvard grad, had a baby, and moved into a house in a safe neighborhood. In this black love story it will showcase how black kids can be happy and find love without having the stereotypical black storylines that they have in most books in movies. I'm writing this book to show that black love is real, young love is real, and just because the media and world see us like we don't have to see ourselves that way.
