Working the closing shift at The Hollow Tap was supposed to be predictable. For Eve, the quiet dive bar was a sanctuary; a place where she could pour drinks, count tips, and pretend the crushing weight of the outside world didn't exist. She kept her head down, kept the peace, and took the blame for everything. It was the only way to survive.
Then John Constantine walked in.
He's cynical, direct, and entirely too observant. As John becomes a regular, his sharp eyes start tracking the cracks in Eve's carefully constructed mask. After finally convincing her to leave her toxic domestic situation, he must leave for a case.
However, when he gets back he notices two things:
1) Eve is still with that stupid bloke, and
2) Her physical health seems to be slowly deteriorating: bags under her eyes, shaky hands, slightly slurred speech.
Every time John tries to confront her about it, she just says that she's tired... ALWAYS tired.
As Eve keeps deteriorating, John must figure out if it's caused by her domestic situation or if there's something more sinister involved.
