Hello everyone! This is my Johnny Cade x y/n fanfiction. Just a little heads up, this story doesn't take place during the time that The Outsiders does. It's kind of like an AU where Johnny and Dally didn't die, but all the other events happened. We'll say this is like, 6 months after. Also, I know that S. E. Hinton wrote a few books that take place after and have Outsiders characters in them, but I haven't read those in a hot minute so this won't be consistent with those books. Sorry! I hope you enjoy!

Prior to the events of The Outsiders, Johnny Cade was jumped by a group of socs, which Ponyboy references when he's talking to Cherry at the drive-in. I thought that this was SO overlooked in the movie adaptation. Therefore, using some of my headcanons, I elaborated on this scene. This fanfiction is a short story with more in depth detail about what happened after Johnny was found and the perspectives of the of his friends as they helped him recover.
