How the Toronto Blue Jays Inspired Us About Baseball and Life In 53 Error-Filled, Ecstatic, Epic Minutes "Engaging and articulate, like listening to a first-class baseball announcer. A must for every fan of the Blue Jays." - W. P. Kinsella, author of "Shoeless Joe," made into the movie "Field of Dreams" Born in New York, Peter O'Brien played second base and right field for Better Value Furniture and Ebco Industries as a kid in Richmond, B.C. He had one home run and has never forgotten it. Before 1977 and the creation of the Blue Jays, he loved the Yankees (and still does, when they don't play each other). He has a BA in English from the University of Notre Dame (he didn't attend on an athletic scholarship), and an MA in English from McGill University. He has published articles and reviews in The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Montreal Gazette, The Financial Post, and National Post, and has written or edited five books. The most recent, published in 2014, is Cleopatra at the Breakfast Table: Why I Studied Latin With My Teenager and How I Discovered the Daughterland. He lives in Toronto, and enjoys sitting in the 500-level seats at Jays games. He thinks you gain a better perspective when the whole game spreads out and unfolds in front of you.

Cassandra and Jose Bautista were the best of friends. Ever since Jose moved to Toronto to play for the Toronto Blue Jays. She has played baseball all her life, so when Jose and her met they totally hit it off. Cassandra has grown very close to the team, considering her uncle is John Gibbons. When this one player, Brett Lawrie, got called up to the Jays Cassandra has always had a major crush on him. Jose knows but swore to never open his mouth about it. When Cassandra finds out Brett had a girlfriend, she's gotten all depressed for 2 years. During those two years she's been cutting herself and tried to kill herself 5 times. But all those times Jose has always been by her side, helping her through everything and putting her in therapy. Most of the team knows why she's doing it, except for Brett. He's been too in love with Hilary to even notice Cassandra. In 2013, Brett finds out that Hilary has been cheating on him for the past couple months and calls it quits. To realize Hilary was never the love of his life. After the horrible break up, he never looked for anybody to fall in love with. During spring training, Gibbons calls Cassandra to help with training the team, to her delight she's happy to do it. One day she's stuck with helping Brett, she's aware of his break up with Hilary but thinks that there is no chance of her being with Brett. The entire Blue Jays team thinks that Brett and Cassandra are perfect for each other, but will Brett notice that Cassandra that she's the one for him or will Cassandra finally have the guts to ask him on a date? Read to find out! I hope that was a good description of what the book is going to be about.
