The Realism: If Emma has French roots but lives in British society, she is the perfect double agent. The British would trust her British lineage, while her French heritage gives her a secret reason to hate the Crown. The Language of Spies: She likely speaks fluent French, allowing her to communicate with French officers (like Lafayette or Rochambeau) in a language the British officers might not fully grasp. Her "American background" gives her the "Liberty" ideology that drives her to risk her life.
