There a few things more frowned upon than a woman making her own way in the world. But Anne-Marie Raveport is just that woman. Being an orphan with no family, status, or money to her name, Anne had two options: find a nobleman with standards low enough to marry her, or figure out a way to make money. Luckily for her, she had always been quite gifted in the art of violin, and after catching the attention of the Queen, quickly became a staple at the parties and events of the ton. Now she has money, just enough gowns to fit in amongst the elites, and a life her very own, unsullied by the controlling grip of a man.
There are also few things more frowned upon than a quiet and sensitive man. But Albert Featherington is just that man. Being the only son and eldest child of Baron Featherington, it is Albert's jib and birthright to marry a woman if money and status, sire an heir to the Featherington name, and ensure his mother and sisters will be cared for the rest of their lives. Unluckily for him, he is interested only in books and learning, and has yet to meet a woman that he could like, much less one that would be willing to marry him. Now, he has his meddlesome, critical mama to contend with, but in spite of her schemes, he is perfectly content to be is own man, unaffected by the customs of polite society.
It isn't until Albert witnesses Anne's performance during the opening ceremony of the social season thst a woman has ever caught his eye, and he will do whatever it takes for a chance to talk to the most talented violinist. And vice verse, it isnt until Anne makes Albert's acquaintance that she knows what it's like to be pursued by a man with pure intentions, but she can't deny the way his gentle heart and kind demeanor make her feel.
Neither of them are allowed to fall for the other...and yet, gentle readers...that may be exactly where this story ends.
