Fifteen year old Lyndsey Parker has everything going right for her. A great horse, a spot on the Junior Eventing Olympic team and a perfect boyfriend. But when a devastating barn fire destroys the life she knew, everything changes. She must heal a broken body, broken trust and broken confidence to rise to the top again. With pressure from her team and the media to get back out and win rises, and she doesn't know if she can do it, was this a wake up call that she should hang up her helmet and vest for good?
My heart seemed to want to explode from my chest as it beat against my rib cage like a wild animal. I couldn't seem to be able to breathe as my entire body and mind seemed to be in a state of complete and utter shock. It was as if time had suddenly frozen around me and my body had yet to catch up to present time. The scene that lay before me seemed like something out of a movie, or my dreams...make that my worst nightmare. I stood looking at once was the barn, my family and my home. Sparks cracked and sparked in every direction, smoke filled the air with its rancid sting and the wild fire roared as if it were alive from inside of the barn. Horses screamed in agony into the dark of night as I stood stunned too mortified to move from where I stood.
