The merfolk race and the human race were always seperate but soon a new race arose. An ancient curse had been awoken and now there was no way of stopping it. The curse that had been awoken was the Vampire Curse and it had been awoken by the Shimada brothers. The Shimada brothers had quickly spread the curse. The first to fall victim to them was Dr. Angela Ziegler when she tried to talk Genji about it. It eventually found it's way to 2,487 more people before people stopped being turned into vampires and started being turned into merfolk. Only pureblooded merfolk lived in the kingdom while the others lived on land and were slowly reverting back to their former human selves. Which was good for the humans but bad for the merfolk since the only being that could manipulate minds was a vampire. Which meant that those humans would tell others and the merfolk race would be put in grave danger.
