"traveler, has anyone ever told you about the tale of the weeping deity?"
-
before archons were named and nations were crowned, before visions learned to answer human hands, celestia discovered a flaw in the world.
not in stone, nor in sky, but in the human heart.
for every ambition that shattered, for every prayer that went unanswered, for every life that ended with words unsaid, something remained. not a soul, but lingering emotions.
grief. regret. longing. envy.
at first, these echoes were few, and the earth absorbed them as it did the rain. but as wars grew, as gods clashed, as civilizations burned, those emotions began to gather. and gathered emotion, when left untended, does not fade. It condenses and it becomes power. power without reason. power without mercy. power that could one day rival the heavens themselves.
and so celestia, fearing not monsters nor mortals, but the accumulation of the living's sorrow, chose not to erase it, but to contain it.
they shaped a god not of element, but of empathy. a heart vast enough to bear what others could not. a will gentle enough to listen to endless grief.
they named them the keeper of what must never be used, and they built for them a realm beyond the waking sky. 'the sea of falling stars' otherwise known as 'the domain of last wishes'
there, every regret took form as light. tears fell from the firmament like stars, each carrying a fragment of a life that ended wanting. and the god walked upon those waters made of memory, catching those falling wishes in their hands,
pressing them to their heart, and dissolving them into quiet sleep.
they did not judge them, they only wept with them. until they were calm enough to rest.
thus the world remained stable. and humanity never knew how close its sorrow came to becoming a weapon as history wrote itself in blood and fire.
for celestia deemed lacrimo a power forbidden in teyvat
